Help and FAQ's

Embroidery

Q. I obtained a formal quote. How long is it valid for?

A. Quotes are honoured for 30 calendar days.

Q. What if I don’t have suitable artwork for my logo or design?

A. We will initially let you know that the artwork you have provided is not suitable to proceed with your embroidery requirements. You may then re send improved artwork or we can re draw the artwork for you to Vector Graphic Standard. The cost for re drawing artwork is £20 plus VAT (subject to sight of artwork and to a maximum of 1 hours time).

Q. Can you match the colours of my logo if I provide the printed pantone colour reference?

A. Pantone colours can be matched to the nearest embroidery thread. You will see from the embroidery proof the exact colours we intend to use.

Q. How can I get my artwork files to you?

A. There are three main methods:

  • Media (CD, DVD, USB stick, etc)

  • Email (.jpeg, .gif, .tiff, AI, .eps)

  • Paper (Letterhead, Compliment slip, etc)

Q. What kind of files/programs do you accept/recommend?

A. For embroidery we can accept any file format (including jpegs, word documents. EPS files etc).

Q. If we already have an embroidery disc from our previous supplier, can we use that?

A. Probably yes, we can use most standard embroidery formats. Just send through the disk to us, or email the information on the disc with a running sheet and we will check that it is ok to use.

Q. How do you turn our logo into stitching?

A. The process is called digitising and the quality of the final embroidery rests very much on the skill of the digitiser. Using specialist software the digitiser coverts the image into instructions for the embroidery machine to know where to stitch, what type of stitch to use and much more. Many people can digitise, but not all of them can digitise well. Our digitiser has been doing our work for a number of years and has received many favourable comments from customers who have previously had designs digitised elsewhere.

Q. Does it cost extra to have more than one colour in the design?

A. No it doesn't. Unlike screen printing where every colour costs money, the number of colours in embroidery makes no difference to the cost. Our machines can cope with 12 colours, but most designs have 6 or fewer colours.

Q. Are there any guidelines for embroidered text to look good?

A. The minimum size for text is 5mm high; use a simple font that doesn't have too many narrow areas. Ideally the size should be at least 8mm high and in a block font.

Q. If we just want some text, is there a set up charge?

A. Providing we can match your font to one of our existing fonts, there is no set up charge. If we can't match it, then there will be a set-up charge.

Q. We've already got a logo, can we use that?

A. Most certainly. We need a good quality colour copy of your logo and the size you want it. Our preference is for the artwork to be in the form of a PC graphics file, e.g. JPEG, TIFF etc., although we can use a paper copy as the artwork. The more complex the design the bigger we need the image, if possible real size or larger.

Q. Once I've reviewed my proof, what next?

A. A written approval or explanation of alterations/changes needs to be emailed to us before we can move the job into production. We work from the original artwork you provide us with. If major changes are required, which differ quite a lot from the original artwork you sent us, then there may be a further charge for having the artwork reworked.

Q. What if there are changes needed after I receive my proof?

A. You should advise by email of the alterations or changes you require. If these are significant we will send you another proof to approve. Some changes may incur an extra cost. If the alterations are minor we may ask you to sign off the original proof.

Q. Do you supply the garments?

A. Yes we do, and there is a huge range to choose from - why not browse our online Brand Index. If you have any queries or cannot find what you want, please contact us.

Q. If we come back for more embroidery, does it have to be set up again?

A. No. Once the design has been set up, we store the embroidery file ready for future use. You only pay for the actually embroidery to be done.

Q. Can I see a sample of the garment for size or colour?

A. We will be happy to supply a sample or size range on a sale or return basis. The goods will be invoiced out to you, and a credit will be raised when you return the goods within 14 days, in a re-saleable condition. Any carriage will not be credited.
