Football, or soccer as many call it, is probably the most popular team game in the UK. Children are introduced to kicking a ball as soon as they can walk and for some the skills are honed throughout childhood and carried on into adulthood.

Sometimes five-a-side is all a works team can manage with the available staff at break times, it can move from being an informal kick about to a more formally structured event with matches being played against other sections outside the work place. Pub teams might have a side in a Sunday league and many amateur teams are formed on an ad hoc basis for impromptu matches as well as the organised fixtures of recognised and registered leagues.

Whatever the weather, footballers wear shorts. Ironically it is only for indoor football that you would occasionally see players in jog bottoms or track pants as they provide protection from burns that might occur if contact of bare skin is made with the floor surface. Shorts allow great freedom of movement for the legs so that running is easy and skill can be executed without any impediment. They are cool and comfortable to wear, easy to put on and take off and simple to take care of as they are machine washable garments.
