Cricket Hats
As a summer game one of the things that is often noticed about cricket players at Lords, The Oval and other grounds from which matches are televised is the use of zinc block on lips, noses and cheek bones. This is a means of protection of the prominent facial features from harmful UV rays that hot summer sun brings.
Such protection makes sense but only cooler days instead of coloured ‘war paint’ being smeared across a face, a brimmed hat can protect the face sufficiently well and it also provides cover for the back of the neck which can be exposed too.
Obviously cricket involves swift movement through batting, running and fielding so the hat needs to be secured otherwise it will just fly off the wearer and have to be retrieved at some stage. Beechfield’s hats at JKL Clothing have adjustable cords secured by a toggle to make sure the hat sits comfortably in position to protect the wearer from harsh sunlight that might burn the skin and it will also help prevent glare so that vision is not impaired giving clear sight of the cricket ball.
Spectators as well as cricket players may want to have a hat for exactly the same reasons – if it’s good enough for the men on the pitch, it’s good enough for the spectators in the stands.
