Blouses

Blouses are very clever little clothing items. They offer the same covering as a shirt but have more detail to add interest and make them appealing. Blouses with darts and tailoring to give a flattering fitted look can look casual when teamed with a pair of jeans or a denim skirt and can be dressed up with only minimal attention to accessories that would just ‘lift’ the blouse and thus your overall appearance.

Blouses can have plenty of variation in their neckline styles. Stand up collars, rounded collars, cowl necks, ruffle trims cascading a plunge neckline – all sorts of things are possible with a blouse. Sleeve lengths can be short, long or three-quarter, cuffs might have plain hemlines, deep wrist panels or fold back styles and hemlines can be straight or rounded to give options for wearing them tucked into waistbands or left outside the garment as you please.

Fabrics can have a crisp cotton feel or a soft silkiness and their drape can be gentle and flowing or structured and controlled. Piping and ribbing can suggest texture and different shoulder styles can offer variations on a theme with yoke, raglan sleeves or in-set sleeves helping to define a look.
