It is a fact of life, even if boys deny it, that school blazers are used as goalposts for playground football. Why? Quite often there is only one marked out football pitch that is taken up by enthusiastic players and for safety reasons the goalposts or nets are only brought out for supervised PE lessons. As such, many smaller impromptu games are set up around the periphery and in the absence of backpacks to provide the goals, blazers are used instead.

This doesn’t have be read as a horror story, much worse abuse can happen to blazers when rough games are played that involve pulling, tugging and wrestling.
